How to Install XP on a Computer that doesn't have a Bootable CD-ROM Drive
Microsoft operating systems use to come with boot disks, to get Setup started if your CD-ROM drive wasn't bootable? Well, with XP, the images for boot floppies aren't on the CD. You have to download them from Microsoft. And in future versions of the OS, installing from boot disks won't be supported at all - you'll have to have a bootable CD or install over a network. For now, though, if you want to make boot disks, download the files from the following web sites:
