If  the Windows Installer component had a failed installation, and it won't work properly afterward or you get errors when you try to install or uninstall a program such as a message that the Windows Installer service can't be accessed or can't be started, or an "error 5: Access denied" error. If this happens to you, you can fix it by unregistering and re-registering Windows Installer or by upgrading to a newer version of Installer. Or you can use Windows Installer Cleanup to remove the failed installation. In fact, there are several other possible solutions. To read instructions for all of them, see KB article 555175 at:
